Free Educational Videos

Watchnow is a great site ofering free educational videos and other media, explaining several topics related to different school subjects. One of its main advantages is that they are rated and sorted into a giant directory, making them simple to find - great idea! -

How can I embed videos in my blog?

Adding videos and slideshare presentations to your posts is very easy. You just have to copy and paste a code you will find somewhere in the website you are visiting. Where exactly? How do I copy it? Watch this presentation to find out:

Let's create a blog!

This course, you are going to create a blog and you will keep it updated by adding information at the end of each unit, creating a sort of Scrapbook.
The blog will also be a useful tool for displaying some of the activities, tasks and projects we will do during the course, and at the same time it aims to promote communication outside the classroom.
Now, let's begging at the beggining!
Creating a personal blog using blogspot is very easy - don't panic, we'll do it together in the Language Room-.
First of all, follow these instructions:
Once you have created your blog, your first post will obviously be an introduction. Can you introduce yourself like you did in the course presentation?
Here you have some tips to write your first post:
  • What is your name?
  • How old are you?
  • Where do you live?
  • How many brothers and sisters have you got?
  • What are your hobbies?
  • Tell me two interesting things about yourself
Next week I'll show you how to add images / videos to your post.

I am a Rock - Simon and Garfunkel

Simon And Garfunkel - I Am A Rock lyrics

A winter's day
In a deep and dark December;
I am alone,
Gazing from my window to the streets below
On a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

I've built walls,
A fortress deep and mighty,
That none may penetrate.
I have no need of friendship; friendship causes pain.
It's laughter and it's loving I disdain.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

Don't talk of love,
But I've heard the words before;
It's sleeping in my memory.
I won't disturb the slumber of feelings that have died.
If I never loved I never would have cried.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

I have my books
And my poetry to protect me;
I am shielded in my armor,
Hiding in my room, safe within my womb.
I touch no one and no one touches me.
I am a rock,
I am an island.

And a rock feels no pain;
And an island never cries.

And now the other way round: 35 years backwards through time!

Did you realize Sam says "two hundred and eleven... sorry: twenty eleven"  to refer to 2011? What is the correct way to reference 2010s?  There is a lot of debate about it.
Now is your turn; google it, surf the net and tell me: what is your opinion?

Friends - Introducing people

I've just introduced myslf during the presentation of the course.
Let's get to know each other!
Can you introduce your classmates?
Work in groups of 4 and tell me all you know about your partners (name, age, nationality, hobbies...), so I can know you better.

Countries and Nationalities

This is a reminder of countries and adjectives used for nationalities.
How many nationalities coexist in our classroom?
Do you know where all your classmates are from?
What language do they speak in each of the countries seen in the presentation?

Sing along!

This is one of my favourite songs. Would you like to sing along?

Lyrics | Stone Roses lyrics - Waterfall lyrics

What's your favourite song?
Fellow teachers: what do you have to say about that?
Do you agree, kids?
